Cleaning bridges, implants and dentures

Brücken, Implantate und Zahnprothese reinigen

Dentures, bridges, implants and crowns: With dentures, daily oral hygiene can sometimes be a real challenge. On the one hand, dentures provide a great habitat for bacteria. On the other hand, a conventional toothbrush is hardly able to thoroughly remove all areas of the dental implants from food particles and plaque. With the emmi®-dent ultrasonic toothbrush now provides relief. The innovative ultrasound technology can clean teeth, interdental spaces, gums and even dentures without damaging the sensitive material. This makes ultrasound ideal for cleaning dentures and at the same time protects repaired and improved areas in the mouth.

The special challenges when cleaning dentures

If one or more teeth are so damaged that the tooth substance can no longer be saved, dentures are required. These come in a variety of forms - as removable or fixed replacements:

  • Crowns and bridges are both firmly anchored in the teeth. While partial and full crowns are designed to stabilize existing remaining teeth in order to preserve them, dental bridges replace one or more teeth.
  • Implants are artificial tooth roots to which various types of dentures can be attached.
  • Veneers are porcelain coverings that are attached to the surface of the teeth.
  • Dentures are removable dental replacements that can be made as either partial or full dentures.

When it comes to care, there is no difference between real teeth and dentures : both require thorough cleaning - otherwise there is a risk of further dental diseases and even further tooth loss. Without thorough cleaning of the dentures, they can become damaged, which can become a costly undertaking.

Why cleaning your dentures is so important

If food particles and plaque are not properly removed during oral hygiene, harmful bacteria will settle there . The plaque gradually hardens into tartar, which can cause dental diseases such as tooth decay, periodontitis, and gingivitis. Plaque not only sticks to the teeth, but also to the surfaces of the dentures if the dentures are not cleaned carefully. This quickly becomes dangerous, especially with removable dentures, because these are made with millimeter precision and the dentures soon become more difficult to remove. Bacteria also quickly settle on crowns, bridges, and implants. With dental crowns, the edges and the spaces between the teeth are at high risk, and with bridges, the areas where the denture rests on the gums are also at risk. Dental care of the bridge or crown is particularly difficult in these areas because they are difficult or even impossible to reach with a toothbrush.

Cleaning dentures: Scrubbing can damage the sensitive material

According to the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists, the best way to clean a removable denture is with water and a toothbrush. You can also achieve excellent results with an ultrasonic bath , in which the ultrasound thoroughly removes all deposits from the denture. Cleaning dental implants, bridges and crowns, which are firmly anchored in the mouth, is more difficult. Not only is a fixed denture difficult to clean, but the sensitive material from which dental implants, bridges and crowns are made can also be damaged by scrubbing too hard with a toothbrush. The surface shine of dental implants can also quickly be lost through abrasive brushing.

Ultrasound for dental care of bridges, crowns and implants

Ultrasound is not only a great way to clean removable dentures, but also fixed dentures with the emmi®-dent ultrasonic toothbrush . The toothbrush works with 100 percent original ultrasound, which is able to thoroughly clean even hard-to-reach areas of food residue, plaque and bacteria. The excellent cleaning effect is due to the tiny bubbles created by the 96 million vibrations per minute of the ultrasonic toothbrush. They penetrate effortlessly into areas where a conventional toothbrush cannot: between the teeth and the gums, but also dental implants, bridges and crowns. When cleaning teeth, ultrasound not only reduces the bacteria in the tissue and between the implants that can cause infections. It also offers other advantages for the dental care of bridges and implants: Cleaning teeth with ultrasound also promotes blood circulation in the tissue, so that the implants are better protected against bacteria.

Ultrasound instead of scrubbing: gentle cleaning of dental implants

The emmi®-dent requires just 0.2 watts of energy for thorough dental care of bridges, crowns and implants. In conjunction with the 96 million vibrations per minute, however, this power is sufficient to clean the gaps between the dentures without damaging the denture material. This means that the crown and bridge are not damaged when dental care is carried out using ultrasound. At the same time, this type of cleaning keeps the dental implants shiny and looking like new. This also applies to veneers, which are made of porcelain, so that even the smallest particles of conventional toothpaste can leave scratches - but not with the innovative ultrasound technology of the emmi®-dent: When cleaning with the ultrasonic toothbrush, scrubbing is no longer necessary . The ultrasonic toothpaste specially developed for cleaning teeth with the emmi®-dent also contains no abrasive particles that could damage sensitive dental implants during cleaning. This keeps your teeth clean and healthy, and your dentures shiny and radiant for a long time.
