When anaerobic bacteria in the oral cavity break down food residues into volatile chemical compounds, the substance known as unpleasant smell of decay. This is usually based on sulphur compounds. The bacteria that cause the odour feel at home on

  • protruding tooth and crown edges,
  • in interdental spaces,
  • on the tongue papillae
  • and in gum pockets

particularly well. If you do not brush your teeth regularly or thoroughly enough, these “Putrefactive bacteria” proliferate massively. This creates the bad smell from the mouth. Incidentally, poorly fitting fillings cause for bad breath.
